VirtualDub Video Capture and Encoding
VirtualDub is a free, open source video capture-and-encoding software with the supports of digital and analog capture capabilities. VirtualDub supports both DirectShow & Video for Windows capture. Capture features include capture to any AVI variant, audio VU meters, overlay and preview modes, histogram, selectable crop area, video noise reduction, auto stop settings - based on capture time, file size, free space, and/or dropped frames.

VirtualDub Video Editing
VirtualDub capture and encoding software comes with a number of video filters, that extend its capabilities. Examples include reducing the video size by half, converting the video to grayscale, arbitrary rotation and about a dozen more. VirtualDub can be used to delete segments of a video file, append new segments, or reorder existing segments.

VirtualDub Video Filters
VirtualDub might not has the editing power or rich features of a general-purpose video editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video in return. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is designed for Microsoft Windows 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, but may run on Linux and Mac OS X using Wine. However, native support for these systems is not available.
